Healing Essentially Everything, Naturally!!

I've had my Young Living Essential Oils kit for a couple of weeks now. I wasn't sure if it was necessary to buy the starter kit or if I should just buy a couple of the oils I was initially interested in. I decided to buy the kit because it allowed me 24% off any future orders plus I got to try 11 different oils AND get a diffuser. That just made sense. So, you're wondering, what did I discover?
I use Lavender and Peace and Calming essential oils nightly on my girls. I made a "sleep, baby, sleep" cream (virgin coconut oil with Lavender and Peace and Calming) that I apply on the girls' chests before bed and then I diffuse either Lavender or Peace and Calming at bedtime. Typically, my girls, who are night hawks, are passed out within literally minutes! I even have nights where both girls sleep through the entire night!!
The first thing I do in the morning is add Lemon Essential Oil to my water and drink up. It's great for the liver and tastes great too!
My youngest had a fever. I put Lemon Essential Oil on her spine and Peppermint on the bottoms of her feet and diffused Thieves. Within a couple of hours she was bouncing around, feeling amazing. I've never seen anything like it in my life!!
I have been diffusing Thieves essential oil for the past couple of nights because I can tell there is a cold coming to get us. We're not out of the woods just yet but we're definitely not getting any worse. I know from hearing from fellow Young Living oil users that we will beat this cold before it gets us! I also am using Thieves to get rid of a wart I have and to treat toenail fungus. I don't think it's really fungus, my grandmother had thick toenails and I do too but I'm using it anyway and they're already noticeably thinner.
My neck and arm bother me on a daily basis - I have discs in my neck that are pinching nerves in my arm - but I use PanAway Essential oils which takes my pain completely away.
When I start to get stressed I use Stress Away essential oil and within about 10 minutes I am so much calmer and able to cope.
I put lavender essential oil on cuts, scrapes and on mosquito bites.  It heals the skin amazingly fast and makes it soft.  I’ve also used it, mixed with virgin coconut oil, as a bum cream on my youngest.
When my girls get crazy, I bring out the Peace and Calming essential oil and dab some behind their ears. Within minutes they're calmer.
I use purification essential oil to freshen the air.  Our cat that now has passed, in her later years, used to urinate on the carpet in the basement. A smell which we could not get rid of. We honestly thought we had to rip out the carpet. Nope! I mixed Purification with distilled water and sprayed the air and the carpet as well as diffused Purification and the smell is gone!
I had an upset stomach the other evening and I put some Peppermint Essential Oil on it and it went away within minutes.  I also use Peppermint when I get a headache to remove the pain almost instantly.
My older daughter copped an attitude with me. Frankincense to the rescue!! It's like an attitude adjustment in a bottle!
I use Valor essential oil just before bed to stop from snoring. I had an anxiety attack the other day. I won't get into the details but I dropped some Valor on the top of my head and within minutes I could handle my surroundings again.

That's just in the last couple of weeks. Just imagine the next couple of months!!

Do you use Essential Oils?

Do you use essential oils and/or have you heard of the many benefits they have? Could you imagine replacing your existing chemicals in your house with one (or more) of the following?

Pain Creams, Burn Ointments, Athlete's Foot Creams, Wart Removal Products, Sinus Tablets, Sleep Aids, After Shave, Deodorant, Skin Lotions, Chapped Lip Sticks, Cold Sore Balms, Bath Oils, Perfumes, Dandruff Shampoos, Insect Repellents, Moth Balls, Anti-Bacterial Cleaners, Lemonaid, Herbal Teas, Cooking Spices... the list goes on and on...

As part of my passion for real food and my current training in Holistic Nutrition, I’ve become more attuned to the amazing benefits of essential oils. After researching many companies I’ve decided upon Young Living Essential Oils to be my company of choice. I now buy all my essential oils at wholesale prices. The best part is, there is NO CATCH. You don’t have to distribute them, you don’t have to sell a certain amount. You are only asked to purchase $50/year to keep your wholesale membership.

Wholesale Members can also be Independent Distributors. This just means in addition to the wholesale pricing (24% off retail price), you also have the option of sharing the oils with your friends and family in order to earn commissions and participate in promotions for free oils. If becoming a Young Living Independent Distributor is something you are considering, please contact me. I will be more than happy to help you with getting your essential oil business up and running!  Signing up as a wholesale member puts you under no obligation to distribute the oils.  It simply means that you get to enjoy the benefits of a discounted wholesale membership and save 24% on everything you order, forever.

To become a member, you will need to fill out this form. Once you become a member, you can order as frequently or infrequently as you like. To maintain your wholesale membership, you need to order a minimum of $50 in product per year. Unless you decide to collect Essential Rewards points or earn a commission as an independent distributor, you do not need to meet any monthly minimums!

On the membership form you will be given the option of selecting a starter kit. We recommend purchasing this when you sign up to familiarize yourself with a variety of different oils right away. Canadians do not need to order a starter kit, unless they want to. (If you live in the USA and want to become a wholesale member, you will need to choose a starter kit.)

If you choose to order a starter kit, the best deal is the Premium Starter Kit ($173 plus tax and shipping). This kit (valued at over $300) contains everything you need to incorporate essential oils into your everyday life, including:
  • The Everyday Oils Kit with 10 essential oils (retail price $182.89)
  • Home diffuser (retail price $113.82)
  • Mini samples of the best selling oils, a 5ml bottle of Stress Away essential oil, and samples of NingXia Red (a fabulous antioxidant drink)
  • More information about Young Living essential oils and other products

When it comes to essential oils, Young Living sets the standard for purity and authenticity. Young Living carefully monitors every step of the production of the oils from beginning to end through a unique seed to seal process, ensuring the purity of each essential oil and protecting nature’s living energy in every bottle. This unsurpassed commitment to quality means that you can be confident that Young Living essential oils are both safe and effective.  Young Living farms, located around the globe, are dedicated to perfecting the best growing and harvesting methods. Their experts also travel the world visiting their co-op farms to verify that their growing and cultivating processes match their high standards. These operations provide an ongoing source for essential oils that meet Young Living’s demanding quality standards.

If you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to ask. You can purchase Young Living therapeutic-grade essential oils in one of two ways: as a Wholesale Member (best option), just like I am, or as a Retail Customer. Either way, all I want is to introduce you to what I know and love. The following are all included in the starter pack, along with Stress Away, samples of four of the oils to share with friends and family, and a diffuser for the home. Of course, there is also a tiny starter kit but it doesn’t include any oils or the diffuser. It simply allows you to order at wholesale.

Wild foods, David Wolfe, journaling with friends, and injured knee...

So much has gone on in the past month that I've hardly had time to think!! I've been learning about superfoods, superherbs, raw foods, wild foods, foraging... It's been interesting and fun.
Best part so far? Meeting, listening to, and talking to none other than David Wolfe! What an amazing couple of days I've had recently. The last two evenings I've spent at workshops, one where David headlined and the other where he was the only speaker. He's amazing. I feel honoured to have been able to meet him; talk to him; and lastly, have my picture taken with him!

I've been having a good time on my lunch breaks and really, any time I'm outside, finding wild plants that are either eye catching or could have the possibility of being identified as a wild edible. I'm still learning so I haven't picked anything yet but I WILL learn more until I'm comfortable picking and using. For now, enjoy a few of the pics I've recently taken.

Between all this craziness, I've actually found a little time to craft, surprisingly. Not a lot of time but I did make a point of spending one afternoon with Lizzie from Lizzie's Workshop and this is what I accomplished that afternoon:

Yes, in the midst of all this craziness, let's add something more... I've injured my knee. Who knows how, who knows when... all I know is this is how swollen it was:

My girls took turns trying to help me though... how adorable!

And finally, one of my first harvests from my garden: Kale, beet leaves, swiss chard, and a couple of zucchini flowers. Gorgeous:

Weekend of fun...

Another fantastic weekend of fun with Chelsey's Creative Events Scrapbooking. Another full weekend of friends, fun, art journaling, canvas making, recipe book making, class designing, and teaching hand lettering. Here are a couple of sneak peeks at what went on this weekend:

Friday night began with my Hand Lettering class. Here are some examples of my students' work:

Here's a canvas I made, just playing around with some mixed media:

And my "home"made cookbook cover and back...

I also worked on designing a mixed media class but for some reason the photos of it won't load right now. I'll post them later when I can get them to work.

I did, however, get a chance to create a facebook group. Feel free to check it out!

overwhelmed...

Oh my. I have not been here in MUCH TOO LONG!!! Days have blended into nights which have blended into weekends which have, in turn, blended back into weekdays. I've had a terrible head/chest cold for three weeks and have not gotten much art done lately. However, in the month or so before my cold I did get a lot done. Mostly for DLP (Documented Life Project)

Use a stamp in an unusual way... my borders are Ws, Ns, Vs, and a swirly type w, I think...

I bought this Purpleleaf Cherry Blossom bush and wanted so desperately to plant it in our yard...

Isn't it gorgeous?!? ...turns out we found out it can be picky and Kevin didn't want to chance it dying on us so I returned it... :(
 DLP "add a house"

This one's copied from the amazing Lindsay Ostrom... oh, she is so talented...

I decided that in the absence of the purpleleaf cherry tree/bush that my neighbour's tree is gorgeous and would make me smile.

experimental paint backgrounds...

Christina was so kind to watch our girls so Kevin and I could go out for dinner on our 20 year anniversary (dating, not married - our 11 year marriage anniversary is next week) and when she was hanging out with the girls she drew these flowers. I LOVE THEM and vowed to use them in my journal...

On top of being sick, I refinished a desk and planted the whole garden... here's the 'before' of the desk...

And the 'after'... although it still needs a coat of protective wax...

And my baby graduated Kindergarten. I can't believe how time is flying by!!! ...I guess that's how I didn't get around to blogging for over a month!
